5:13 Is any one among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise. 5:14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 5:15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects. 5:17 Eli'jah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 5:18 Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit. | 5:13 Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord. 5:14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 5:15 And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 5:16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. 5:17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for the next three and a half years! 5:18 Then he prayed for rain, and down it poured. The grass turned green, and the crops began to grow again. | 5:13 Are
any among you in trouble? They should pray. Are any among you happy? They
should sing praises. 5:14 Are any among you sick? They should send for
the church elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in
the name of the Lord.R24 5:15 This prayer made in faith will
heal the sick; the Lord will restore them to health, and the sins they
have committed will be forgiven. 5:16 So then, confess your sins to one
another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer
of a good person has a powerful effect.R25 5:17 Elijah was the
same kind of person as we are. He prayed earnestly that there would be
no rain, and no rain fell on the land for three and a half years.R26
5:18 Once again he prayed, and the sky poured out its rain and the earth
produced its crops.R27
