3 We always thank God, the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 because we have heard
of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you have for all the
saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have
heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel 6 which has come to you,
as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing--so among
yourselves, from the day you heard and understood the grace of God in truth,
7 as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful
minister of Christ on our behalf 8 and has made known to us your love in
the Spirit. |

with blessings and fill you with his great peace. 3 Whenever we pray for
you we always begin by giving thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus

3 We always thank God, the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. 4 We thank him because
we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus. We have also heard that
you love all of God's people. 5 Your faith and love are based on the hope
you have. What you hope for is stored up for you in heaven. You have already
heard about it. You were told about it when the message of truth was given
to you. I'm talking about the good news 6 that has come to you. All over
the world the good news is bearing fruit and growing. It has been doing
that among you since the day you heard it. That is when you understood
God's grace in all its truth. 7 You learned the good news from Epaphras.
He is dear to us. He serves Christ together with us. He faithfully works
for Christ and for us among you. 8 He also told us about your love that
comes from the Holy Spirit. |

The
Message
3 Our prayers for you are always
spilling over into thanksgivings. We can't quit thanking God our Father
and Jesus our Messiah for you! 4 We keep getting reports on your steady
faith in Christ, our Jesus, and the love you continuously extend to all
Christians. 5 The lines of purpose in your lives never grow slack, tightly
tied as they are to your future in heaven, kept taut by hope. 6 It's the
same all over the world. The Message bears fruit and gets larger and stronger,
just as it has in you. From the very first day you heard and recognized
the truth of what God is doing, you've been hungry for more. 7 It's as
vigorous in you now as when you learned it from our friend and close associate
Epaphras. He is one reliable worker for Christ! I could always depend on
him. 8 He's the one who told us how thoroughly love had been worked into
your lives by the Spirit. |
The
Douay-Rheims Bible
3 Grace be to you and peace,
from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God
and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you. 4 Hearing
your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have towards all the
saints. 5 For the hope that is laid up for you in heaven, which you have
heard in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 Which is come unto you,
as also it is in the whole world and bringeth forth fruit and groweth,
even as it doth in you, since the day you heard and knew the grace of God
in truth. 7 As you learned of Epaphras, our most beloved fellow servant,
who is for you a faithful minister of Christ Jesus; 8 Who also hath manifested
your love in the spirit. |
Weymouth
New Testament
3 We give thanks to God, the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, constantly praying for you as we do, 4
because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which
you cherish towards all God's people, 5 on account of the hope treasured
up for you in Heaven. Of this hope you have already heard in the Message
of the truth of the Good News. 6 For it has reached you, and remains with
you, just as it has also spread through the whole world, yielding fruit
there and increasing, as it has done among you from the day when first
you heard it and came really to know the grace of God, 7 as you learned
it from Epaphras our dearly-loved fellow servant. He is to you a faithful
minister of Christ in our stead, 8 and moreover he has informed us of your
love, which is inspired by the Spirit. |
