1.2.3.1 Biographical Background

"Adolf Schlatter (1852-1938). Professor of New Testament at Greifswald (1888), Berlin (1893) and Tübingen (1898), he was by far the most notable conservative New Testament scholar of his day, and has achieved classical status as such in Germany. He wrote on faith in the New Testament (1885), following Cremer and attacking scholars who tried to drive a wedge between Jesus and Paul. He later produced a New Testament theology (1909), and from 1930 until his death wrote commentaries on every book of the New Testament."
