This year has been our best experience ever in taking fall foliage pictures. Two primary trips along with a couple of short excursions have netted almost 1,800 photos. A suggestion for viewing. Thumbnail previews are embedded in this page and automatically play once the page is loaded. Watch the previews and when you see something interesting, click the Pause button for that slideshow. If you want to see more, click on the slide show and it will take you to the Google server where the full albums are located. There you can see more details. If you decide to order a photo, it is possible directly from the Google site. However, an order to Photos By Claire will give you a much higher quality print out. Enjoy!
Our first trip was the weekend of Oct. 18-19. We traveled to Boone, NC, about two hours north of us where we spent Friday and Saturday nights. The photos were shot mostly along either US 226 or the Blue Ridge Parkway going southwest toward Lindville Falls. We returned home Sunday afternoon after traveling as far as Lindville Falls.
Our second trip was a day trip on Nov. 1, beginning at Chimney Rock some 45 miles northwest of us. From there we traveled to Asheville to get on the Parkway, and we headed south until US 276 where we entered the Pisgah National Forest and headed to Brevard, before returning home.
The short excursion was on Nov. 2 to the Sunset Cemetary in Shelby after church and lunch. We have consistently found there some of the most spectacular leaf shots year after year. Earlier Claire took some time to get a few photos of leaves etc. around the elementary school where she teaches in the Cliffside community, some 5 miles west of us.
For a few years now we have operated two sets of cameras: Sony A100 and Olympus E20N. With wide angle and telephoto lenses we have a pretty good range of options in shooting landscapes. Although now somewhat outdated, they still manage to take good pictures.
