15:1 And
(A) the
tax collectors and sinners were drawing near
to hear him.
15:2 And
(B) both
the Pharisees and scribes began complaining
saying,
(1)
This one receives sinners
and
(2)
---- --- eats with them.
15:3 And
(C) he
told them this parable,
saying,
15:4
having 100 sheep
and
having lost one of them
(3)
What one of you would not leave the 99
in the desert
and
(4)
---- --- -- --- would not go after the lost one
until he finds it?
15:5
And
finding it
(5)
he puts it on his shoulders
rejoicing,
15:6
and
coming home
(6)
he calls together his friends and neighbors
saying to them,
Rejoice with me,
because I have found my lost sheep.
(7)15:7
I tell you
in the same manner
that there will be joy
in Heaven
over one repenting sinner
more than
over 99 righteous ones
who have no need of repentance.
15:8
Or
having ten drachmas
and
if she might loose one drachma
(8)
what woman will not light a lamp
and
(9)
---- ----- ---- --- sweep the house
and
(10)
---- ----- ---- --- search carefully
until she finds it?
15:9
And
having found it
(11)
she calls together her friends and neighbors
saying,
Rejoice with me,
because I have found the drachma
which I had lost.
15:10
In the same manner,
(12)
I tell you,
There will be joy
before the angels of the Lord
over one repenting sinner.
15:11
And
(D) he
said,
(13)
A certain man had two sons.
15:12
And
(14)
the younger of them said to his father,
Give me my part of your possessions
which belongs to me.
And
(15)
he divided his property to them.
15:13
And
not many days later
having gathered together everything
(16)
the younger son took a journey
into a distant country,
and
there
(17)
he wasted his possessions
living dissolutely.
15:14
And
after he had wasted everything
(18)
a severe famine occurred
in that country,
and
(19)
he began to be in need.
15:15
And
going
(20)
he joined himself to one of the citizens of that
country,
and
(21)
he sent him
into his fields
to feed the swine;
15:16
and
(22)
he was craving to be nourished
by the carob pods
which the swine were eating,
and
(23)
no one was giving any to him.
15:17
And
having come to himself
(24)
he said,
How many of my father's hired servants are abounding with bread,
and
I am perishing here in famine.
15:18
having gotten up
I will go to my father
and
I will say to him,
Father
I have sinned
against Heaven
and
before you,
15:19
I am no longer worthy to be called your son;
Make me
as one of your hired servants.
15:20
And
having gotten up
(25)
he went to his father.
And
when he was still a long way off
(26)
his father saw him
and
(27)
--- ------ had compassion
and
running
(28)
--- ------ fell on his neck
and
(29)
--- ------ kissed him.
15:21
And
(30)
the son said to him,
Father,
I have sinned
against Heaven
and
before you,
I am no longer worthy
to be called your son.
15:22
But
(31)
his father said to his servants,
Quickly
bring the best robe
and
put it on him,
and
give him a ring
for his hand
and
---- --- sandals
for his feet,
15:23
and
bring the fattened calf,
slaughter it
and
having eaten
let us celebrate,
15:24
because this my son was dead
and
---- -- --- is alive again,
he was lost
and
-- has been found.
And
(32)
they began celebrating.
15:25
And
(33)
the older son was in the field
and
coming
as he drew near the house
(34)
he heard music and dancing,
15:26
and
having summoned one of the servants
(35)
he inquired
as to what these things might be.
15:27
And
(36)
he said to him,
Your brother has come home
and
your father has slaughtered his fattened calf,
because he has gotten him back well.
15:28
And
(37)
he became angry,
and
(38)
-- would not go in.
And
coming out
(39)
his father pleaded with him.
15:29
And
in reply
(40)
he said to his father,
Behold,
all these many years
I have served you
and
never once
have I disobeyed your command,
but
never once
have you given me a kid (goat)
so that I could celebrate
with my friends;
15:30
but
when this son of yours came
who devoured your property
with prostitutes
you kill for him the fattened calf.
15:31
And
(41)
he said to him,
Child,
you are always with me,
and
everything I have is yours;
15:32
but
it is necessary for us to celebrate
and
to rejoice,
because this your brother was dead
and
is alive,
and
was lost
and
is found.
