13.1
on that day
Having come out of the house
(A) Jesus
sat down
by the sea;
13.2 And
(B) great
crowds were gathered
about him,
after having gotten into a boat
so that he sat down,
and
on the beach
(C) all
the crowd stood
13.3 And
(D) he spoke
to them many things
in parables
saying,
Behold
(1)
the sower went out
to sow.
13.4
And
while he was sowing
(2)
some fell
by the path,
and
after coming
(3)
the birds completely ate them.
13.5
But
(4)
others fell
on the rocky ground
where they did not have much soil
and
immediately
(5)
they sprang up
because they did not have depth of soil.
13.6
And
when the sun came up
(6)
they were scourched
and
because they did not have root
(7)
they were withered.
13.7
And
(8)
others fell
among thorns,
and
(9)
the thorns came up
and
(10)
they choked them.
13.8
And
(11)
others fell
on the good ground
and
(12)
they were bearing fruit,
one hundredfold,
and
one sixtyfold,
and
one thirtyfold.
13.9
He who has ears
(13)
let him hear.
-----------------------------------
13.11 And
in reply
(E)1
he said
to them,
13.18
Therefore
(14)
hear the parable of the sower.
13.19
when any one hears the word
of the Kingdom
and
--- --- does not understand,
(15)
the Evil One comes
and
(16)
--- ---- --- snatches away that which was sown
in his heart;
(17)
this one is that which was sown
by the path.
13.20
That which was sown
on the rocky ground,
(18)
this one is he
who hears the word
and
immediately
with joy
--- receives it;
13.21
but
(19)
he does not have root
within himself
and
(20)
-- lasts only a little while,
but
when affliction or persecution comes
because of the word
immediately
(21)
he is offended.
13.22
But
That which is sown
in thorns
(22)
this one is he
who hears the word
and
(23)
the cares of this age
and
the deceitfulness of riches choke the word,
and
(24)
he becomes unfruitful.
13.23
And
That which is sown
on the good soil,
(25)
this one is he
who hears the word
and
--- understands,
who indeed bears fruit
and
--- produces
some hundredfold
and
some sixtyfold
and
some thirtyfold.

1The narrative introduction
to the direct discourse of Jesus begins in 13.11. The direct discourse
is picked up in the diagram in 13.18 which carries it to its rhetorical
