Here are some scenes from Bonn Germany

On Thursday evening, June 19, Claire and I took the S-Bahn, the Telekom Express, from Siegburg to the main train station in Bonn, about six miles, in order to have dinner with long time German friends, Helmuth and Ingrid Weber. Before Helmuth picked us up at the train station, we had some time to walk around in the town center, the Stadtzentrum, and take some pictures. It brought back fond memories to me since I lived in Bonn in 1981-82 during my first sabbatic leave from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. Marked out with captions are a few pictures of the main building where the Evangelische Fakultät, Protestant divinity school, is located. I attended classes in this building that year. Then in 1991, I was invited by the Sociology Faculty of the university to return to give a lecture to the entire university in the main lecture hall of this building on the east end. The lecture (pdf original German text; English translation) was jointly sponsored by the sociology, Protestant divinity and law school faculties of the university. Many wonderful days were spent here in the early years of my teaching career.
