16 Tivni de; oJmoiwvsw th;n genea;n tauvthn;   oJmoiva ejsti;n paidivoi" kaqhmevnoi" ejn tai'" ajgorai'" a& prosfwnou'nta toi'" eJtevroi" 17 levgousin, Hujlhvsamen uJmi'n kai; oujk wjrchvsasqe, ejqrhnhvsamen kai; oujk ejkovyasqe. 18 h\lqen ga;r ÅIwavnnh" mhvte ejsqivwn mhvte pivnwn, kai; levgousin, Daimovnion e[cei.  19 h\lqen oJ uiJo;" tou' ajnqrwvpou ejsqivwn kai; pivnwn, kai; levgousin, ÅIdou; a[nqrwpo" favgo" kai; oijnopovth", telwnw'n fivlo" kai; aJmartwlw'n.  kai; ejdikaiwvqh hJ sofiva ajpo; tw'n e[rgwn aujth'".  16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates, 17 `We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.' 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon; 19 the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds."

32 o&moioiv eijsin paidivoi" toi'" ejn ajgora'/ kaqhmevnoi" kai; prosfwnou'sin ajllhvloi" a& levgei, Hujlhvsamen uJmi'n kai; oujk wjrchvsasqe, ejqrhnhvsamen kai; oujk ejklauvsate. 33 ejlhvluqen ga;r ÅIwavnnh" oJ baptisth;" mh; ejsqivwn a[rton mhvte pivnwn oi\non, kai; levgete, Daimovnion e[cei.  34 ejlhvluqen oJ uiJo;" tou' ajnqrwvpou ejsqivwn kai; pivnwn, kai; levgete, ÅIdou; a[nqrwpo" favgo" kai; oijnopovth", fivlo" telwnw'n kai; aJmartwlw'n.  35 kai; ejdikaiwvqh hJ sofiva ajpo; pavntwn tw'n tevknwn aujth'". 
31 "To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?  32 They are like children sitting in the market place and calling to one another, `We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not weep. 33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine; and you say, `He has a demon. 
34 The Son of man has come eating and drinking; and you say, `Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! 35 Yet wisdom is justified by all her children."
