Greek 101 Class Assignments Schedule

*NOTE: The first class session of Greek 101 on Wednesday, August 22 at 10:00 am, will meet in the Belk-Ellis Multi-Media room on the main floor of Dover Library, instead of the regular class room. Come directly to the library at 10:00 that day only.

Three types of weekly quizzes will occur during the semester:

voc = Vocabulary quiz covering the Basic Vocabulary for that lesson as well as review vocabulary from previous lessons.
G>E = Grammar emphasis quiz including the translation of a Greek text based on the accumulative Basic Vocabulary into correct English.
E>G = Grammar emphasis quiz including the translation of an English language text into correct Koine Greek using the accumulative Basic Vocabulary list.

¹Lesson number indicates the chapter from the grammar to be covered.

²The Written Exercise homework assignment to be graded in class on this day. Instructions: Begin working on the assignment with the beginning class study of that lesson. Bring completed homework assignment with you to class on this class period for the assignment to be graded in class.

³The sessions with Drills will focus on class activities designed to implement the grammar concepts being studied up to that point. Two class sessions are set aside for this, although more than two may take place if the grammar materials are convered in fewer class sessions that is designated for each lesson. The second of the drill sessions will be graded and will become the basis of the Class Recitation grade. See the Semester Grade section in the course Syllabus page for explanation of how this factors into the determination of the semester grade.

⁴For permission to take a Make-up Exam, see the guidelines in Request for Make-up Quiz or Exam. This form MUST be filled out and approved by the professor before a Make-up will be scheduled.

According to university policy, students are expected to be present and sit for the final exam on the date scheduled by the university. The professor has no responsibility for determining the exam date; this is done strictly by the university administration. My policy is to follow this guideline rigidly. This means: NO FINAL EXAMS ARE GIVEN EARLY FOR ANY REASON! If the student can't be present at the scheduled date, then a grade of Incomplete ("I") will be given and the student can make up the work at the beginning of the following semester, according to university guidelines. Any deviation from the regular exam schedule requires specific approval by the university provost. The student is required to complete a prescribed form that can be secured from the provost's office. Expect approval only for illness, death of a family member or some similar extreme emergency. Plane reservations prior to the end of final exam week; an "early ride home" etc. will not receive approval by the provost.
